The atmosphere of Tet was everywhere, in every village and ward. The blooming flowers gave signal for a new spring coming soon. For officers of Khoai Chau transaction office, this was the time when they were busy with visiting and giving meaningful gifts to poor members. Particularly, this was the first time TYM presented gifts to Vietnamese heroes’ mothers. Each gift was worth VND 500 thousand. From 1 to 6 Feb 2013, TYM officers together with communal Women Unions directly came to their houses and welcomed them in a warm atmosphere of Tet holiday. Among them, there was heroes’ mother Nguyen Thi Cong, living in Tho Binh hamlet, Tan Dan commune, Khoai Chau. She was 83 years old, and lived alone in a Grade IV-house awarded by the Government in 2000. She lived based on state’s subsidies. During recent years her health has become worse with faded eyes, and deaf ears; therefore, she could not take care of herself but relies entirely on her daughter-in-law and her grandson living close to her house. Because the economic situation was also not well off, her daughter-in-law often went for business away from home. The grandson was still young, so he could not care her thoroughly. Visiting her, and talking with her about funny stories and daily worries have helped TYM’s officers thoroughly understand , share and empathize with her situation.

For every TYM’s officer, after each time of visiting and giving poor families with Tet gifts, they have been understanding more about the “humanity” in the poverty targeted activities that TYM has been being carried out.
