Visit of President of Laos Women’s Union to TYM’s Vinh Phuc Branch

On April 6th 2016, under the framework of the Regional Project among Savings Banks Foundation of International Cooperation (SBFIC), Vietnam Women’s Union/TYM and Laos Women’s Union/Woman and Family Development Fund (WFDF), a delegation of the Laos Women’s Union (LWU) paid a visit to TYM at Phuc Yen branch, Vinh Phuc province. The delegation was headed by Ms. Inlavan Keobounphanh, a member of the Central Party Committee of Laos cum the president of LWU.

Attending the delegation, there were Ms. Tran Thi Huong – Vice President of VWU, Mr. Vu Chi Giang – Provincial Commissioner cum Vice Chairman of Vinh Phuc People’s Committee, Ms Duong Thi Ngoc Linh – Member of the Presidium of the Central VWU cum General Director of TYM, Vinh Phuc Provincial WU and all branch officers.

At the meeting, Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc Linh had a brief report about the cooperation between SBFIC, VWU/TYM and LWU/WFDF. She also shared the achievement of TYM in recent time and sincerely thanked SBFIC for supporting to connect the two women’s unions of the two countries through various valuable academic programs and experience exchanges.

Ms. Inlavan Keobounphanh, a member of the Central Party Committee of Laos cum the President of Laos Women’s Union  took a photo with Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mui and her husband, TYM’s member at center 17, Phuc Yen Branch, Vinh Phuc

In their visit, the delegation exposed an effective economic model of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mui, a TYM’s member at center 17, Tinh Ky village, Tien Chau commune, Phuc Yen town. In 1999, she joined TYM. During that time, her family experienced a lot of difficulties and their income mainly came from agricultural activities. For the first loan of VND 700,000, she invested all in trading scraps and breeding livestock and poultry. Until now, she is raising up to 30 pigs, 100 chickens as well as owns a small grocery store and a restaurant serving local residents.

In the end of the visit, Ms. Inlavan Keobuonphanh expressed her sincere thanks for the warm welcome and such the meaningful visit. Thanks to that, they have been equipped with much practical knowledge about the way to help women to be out of poverty and achieve comprehensive and sustainable development that Vietnam has been applying.
