On October 7th, 2022, at the Center for Women and Development, 20 Thuy Khue, Tay Ho, Hanoi, the celebration of TYM’s 30th anniversary with the theme “TYM’s 30 years: Dedication & Commitment” was organized to mark the MFI’s development journey from 1992 to present.
In the celebration, there were former Vice President Truong My Hoa, former Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Ha Thi Khiet; Standing Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu; Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, Chairwoman of the Directors Board of TYM Do Thi Thu Thao and delegates from ministries, departments, localities, international organizations, press agencies, outstanding clients of 21 branches; leaders and former leaders of the Vietnam Women’s Union, TYM and representatives of TYM staff members.
Initiated as a project by the Vietnam Women’s Union and named formerly as the Affectionate Fund, TYM has time-to-time affirmed its operational efficiency and was licensed by the State Bank of Vietnam to become an official microfinance institution in 2010. Over the past 30 years, TYM have contributed to realizing the Union’s mission in hunger eradication, poverty reduction and women’s empowerment. Thereby, TYM has gradually asserted itself as one of the largest and strongest microfinance institutions in Vietnam.
Praising and congratulating the important, outstanding, and very respectable achievements that generations of TYM leaders and officers and employees, Standing Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu affirmed: The results achieved by TYM and efforts that TYM has brought to low-income individuals and households, and poor and disadvantaged women over the past 30 years have greatly contributed to the eradication of hunger, poverty reduction and poverty reduction. The important achievements of TYM have been recognized and awarded many noble awards by all levels and sectors. The Deputy Governor said that, in order for TYM to continue to develop safely, effectively and sustainably in the coming time, the State Bank of Vietnam hopes that the Vietnam Women’s Union will give priority to increasing operating capital and additional experienced leaders for TYM.
Congratulating and appreciating TYM’s achievements over the past 30 years, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Do Thi Thu Thao suggested that TYM should continue to promote its historical tradition of formation and development, make officers and members more proud; continue to coordinate with other provinces and cities to carry out the political tasks assigned by the Presidium of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
At the celebration, TYM was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for its excellent achievements in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, contributing to the cause of public health protection and the Certificate of Merit from the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam for its outstanding achievements in applying information technology in the development of products and services for poor, near-poor and low-income women. On this occasion, the Presidium of the Vietnam Women’s Union awarded the certificates of merit to 21 Women’s Unions at all levels and TYM branches and 09 TYM officers for their contribution to the MFI’s success. Two international friends, who have been with TYM since the “start-up” days, were also awarded the medal “For the development of Vietnamese women” by the Vietnam Women’s Union.
Also on this occasion, TYM honored 30 outstanding women clients. They are the ones who have used capital effectively, have made great efforts and changes in life to escape poverty, expand business and create jobs for many other people. They are also active contributors to the operation of the MFI and the Vietnam Women’s Union.
In addition to the celebration, the exhibition “TYM – 30 years: Dedication & Commitment” and the beauty contest of TYM staff members were also held on October 7, 2022 at the same place with meaningful and interesting content, showing the MFI’s history through various stages and the relentless commitment of its people.
