With the spirit of “a piece when hungry is worth a package when full”, in just two days, September 12-13, 2024, TYM staff – TYM Ý Yên Branch bought essential necessities and directly gave them to people in 7 communes along the dike of Ý Yên district, which is being heavily affected by storm no. 3 and floods.
Due to the impact of storms and flood discharge from upstream, the water level on the Day River in Ý Yên district has risen, causing seepage and leakage on many dike lines. This situation has seriously affected many communes along the dike of Ý Yên district, Nam Định province (Phu Hung, Hong Quang, Yen Khang, Yen Tri, Yen Phuc, Yen Loc, Yen Nhan communes). Many households living outside the dike in these communes were flooded and relocated to safe areas. Currently, the river water level has gradually receded, however, the residential areas outside the dike are still flooded, so people cannot go home. During this storm, according to the review of TYM Ý Yên Branch, 70 families of TYM customers’ houses in Ý Yên were flooded, their properties and crops were washed away. Some houses were flooded above the roofs.
Faced with this situation, the management of TYM Ý Yên Branch discussed and agreed with the staff and voluntarily contributed part of their income to buy gifts for the communes. With this contribution, the branch gave to the people of 7 communes along the dike, each commune 8-10 boxes of instant noodles, 5 boxes of milk, 2 boxes of filtered water and 150-200 loaves of bread made by the staff themselves to promptly transport to the people.
On September 12-13, 2024, the staff of TYM Ý Yên branch and the leaders of the Women’s Union of Ý Yên district gave gifts to the people. Holding the gifts in their hands, many women shared their joy because they had to fast for two days. Due to the situation this year, the flood came so quickly that people did not have time to handle and prepare. The practical actions of the staff of TYM Ý Yên branch were highly appreciated by the local authorities and above all, showed the kindness and willingness to share of the staff of TYM in the district.
