On January 25-26, 2013 , in Hanoi , TYM organized Conference of operational summary 2012 and plans for 2013. Overcoming many difficulties and challenges , TYM is consistent with the mission of supporting women with low-income to improve the quality of their life and impenhance their positions in the family and society.
Attending the meeting there were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, the Vice President of Vietnam Women’s Union, Chairman of the Board of TYM, members of the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Board, Board of General Director of TYM, the Board of Director/ Head of transaction office, accountants of branches and officers at the Head Office.
During the previous year TYM continued to support its members living with/affected by HIV/AIDS. Its community activities were also continuously promoted. As a result, 20 poor families who met with housing difficulties were supported with a total budget of VND 600 million. 9 scholarships worth VND 22 million were granted to the TYM members’ children and would be remained throughout their academic years. The 2012 was the sixth year that TYM was continuously named as a typical microfinance institution of the year. In additon, there were 14 officers and members ranked as outstanding credit officers or typical microentrepreneurs. As of December 2012, TYM attracted the participation of nearly 80 thousand members, achieving a total loans outstanding of over VND 480 billion, increasing 86 % compared to the same period of the previous year . This was also a successful year of savings mobilization. The total of savings reached over VND 200 billion which was rated as the highest value ever before.
On November 14, TYM successfully organized 20th Anniversary of its establishment. At the ceremony, TYM was honored to welcome Mrs. Truong My Hoa, the Vice President of Vietnam and the Former President of VWU, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa – the VWU’s President and the senior representatives of sectors and groups, as well as welcome more than 200 officers and members of TYM. |
To boost the performance efficiency of TYM in 2013, the officers got together to seriously discuss seven key issues in the near future, especially to prepare specific solutions to each step of implementation. After nearly one day of constructive discussion, many initiatives were shared and evaluated with high practicalness. Such results showed that TYM could absolutely overcome some shortcomings and improve performance efficiency. However, TYM also needed to further consider and more thoroughly research to cut costs, optimize benefits and better its mission.
Regarding the operational direction of 2013,TYM would focus on promoting propaganda of microfinance activities in order to bring microfinance sector to be closer to the public, making/producing products of preferential loans for poor women within the VND 50 billion budget provided from the Government. Additionally, TYM would continue to promote savings mobilization from the public with appropriate products of savings, focusing on community activities such as giving gifts to disadvantageous members, giving scholarships to children of members …
Speaking at the conference, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy emphasized that “the TYM’s achievements in 2012 and during the past 20 years is very praiseworthy, significantly contributing to the common achievement of the VWU”. Mrs. Kim Thuy also showed her high appreciation that TYM has always been aware of building a clean working environment, with solidarity and commitment to the poor. Despite facing many difficulties in the past time, especially after being licensed, TYM has always shown to be a leading pioneer in the field of microfinance of the VWU particularly and of the whole country generally. Regarding plans for the near future, Mrs. Kim Thuy said that the Standing Presidium and the Board of Directors would provide further support and closer guidance to help TYM well perform its entrusted tasks and mission”.
On behalf of the TYM officers, Mrs. Duong Thi Ngoc Linh, the General Director, gave a sincere thank to the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board and promised to maintain and further promote the achievements in the next time.
