On 13/6/2015, Mrs. Victoria Kwakwa – Director of the World Bank in Vietnam and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa – President of VWU visited TYM Y Yen branch in Nam Dinh province.
Attending the meeting of center no.35 with the topic of “Building the Family of 5 Without-s and 3 Clean-s” launched by VWU, the President of VWU congratulated on the center’s performance and achievements, particularly highly appreciated the mutual share and assistance among members of the center. At the next stop, we paid a visit to Mrs. Vu Thi Hue’s family which was considered as a poor household. In addition to the early death of the husband, Mrs. Hue was affected by HIV/AIDS. Her 18- year-old son had to suffer from asthma. Mrs. Hue is currently a member of TYM and has been supported with a 15 million VND loan at a preferential interest rate of 5% per year to invest in carpentry, breeding and farming. Moreover, her son was granted a scholarship from TYM under the program “TYM-providing wings to your dreams”. After visiting Mrs. Hue family, we visited Mrs. Duong Thi Tuyet and her family, a laureate of the International Microfinance Awards in 2011, a typical model of the attempts to escape poverty. Now, thanks to her supports, many people are provided with stable jobs.
Listening to the confidence and share from TYM’s members, the Director of the World Bank in Vietnam – Mrs. Victoria Kwakwa delightedly commented that the members were very intelligent and hard-working. She highly appreciated all the achievements that TYM Y Yen branch had achieved in supporting sustainable women’s economic development and poverty alleviation. She emphasized that the World bank would take actions to actively support the Government of Vietnam as well as VWU in giving women economic development opportunities, motivation and confidence to have a better life.
