The progress of the project “Development and pilot test of SME products” 4 months after its launch

05/06/2014

It is a type of products that TYM has cherished for a long time with the purposes of adding value to its products and services to gratitude and retain its mature members. With these products, TYM also aims to extend its target groups who wish to get higher amount of loans for economic development.

Along with the development of TYM, its members have been increasingly mature. They have made great strides on the path of improving economic conditions and social status. Their financial capacities and demands are no longer for small loans with weekly repayment. TYM also need to take steps boldly to accompany them. From these, TYM has proposed IFC and SECO for support in finance and selection of suitable companies with relevant extensive experience to help it in designing SME products. At the same time, TYM also invested a large amount of manpower and material resources for this project. Mrs. Duong Thi Ngoc Linh – TYM’s General Directors directly joined the project as a project director and assigned tasks for relevant departments’ manager and deputy manager at the head office.

On 04/06/2014, at the headquarter, TYM organized the “launch ceremony of SME products “. Attending the ceremony there were Mrs. Duong Thi Ngoc Linh – TYM’s General Director, representatives of the agencies providing financial support for this project including Mrs. Nguyen hong Giang, program officer of Economic Affairs Office of Switzerland (SECO), Mr. Ricardo Martin Garcia Tafur – regional microfinance expert of International Finance Corporation (IFC), representatives of the company winning TA package for this project – Mr. JoergTeumer – finance specialist of Savings Bank Foundation of international Cooperation (SBFIC), and other experts, officials of TYM and other parties.

At the launch ceremony, TYM together with all partners reached agreement of an overall project plan, special a plan of market research conducted by TNS Vietnam – an office of TNS Global, one of the largest customer research companies in the world. With the participation of TNS, TYM hopes to better understand the needs and financial capabilities of mature members and microenterprises, thereby develop appropriate and sustainable products.

Shortly after the launch ceremony, the parties immediately embarked on development of methods, design of questionnaire and selection of study areas. Firstly, the research team together German experts and TNS conducted a market survey in some areas. With this in-dept survey and study, we gained useful information about different groups of customers, especially their demands and their financial capacities. Soon after that, the research team and experts carried out design of products, processes and selection of pilot areas.

Currently, the design of products and involved processes are relatively completed. In October TYM will conduct staff training to prepare for trial in two branches/transaction offices. The pilot test is expected in November 2014 and the roll-out is in mid 2015. Thus, with the services of savings and credit for micro enterprises, TYM is gradually realizing the benefits of the official licensing and bringing more diverse benefits for its members.
