From 26 to 30/12/2015, TYM in coordination with the Vietnam Women’s Museum held an agricultural products fair at 36 Ly Thuong Kiet street, Hanoi. The fair aimed to introduce safe, reliable and high-quality agricultural products to consumers in the capital as well as help poor women and farmers in finding markets for their products, contributing to economic development and income generation.
The fair featured more than 100 specialty products from different regions and provinces throughout the country. Where, there were 14 booths offering around 40 specialties produced by TYM’s members. Some products which had attracted consumers in years included clean and safe fruits and vegetables from Phu Binh district – Thai Nguyen province, Hai Hau rice, Y Yen bronze and Van Chang (Nam Truc) cutlery from Nam Dinh province, leaf cakes, momordica cochinchinensis cakes and green bean cakes from Hai Duong province, square cakes, rice cakes and “husband and wife” cakes from Bac Ninh, Thanh Chuong salad, Nam Dan soybean sauce, Hung Nguyen peanut oil, fish sauce, and dried fish of Cua Lo from Nghe An province, Hung Yen incense etc.
Besides, in the fair there were art performances of Thai people including traditional dancing, typical bamboo dancing etc.
It was cold and wet on the first day. That, however, could not prevent the people coming to the fair. Most of the products were welcomed and highly appreciated by consumers. Many customers came back to the fair to choose and buy safe food in the following days.
After 5 days of the fair, most of the TYM members’ products were sold out with recent 4 tons of all types. They were really excited and proud for being provided with the opportunity to sell and introduce directly their products to customers. The fair not only created income for women but also helped to connect their products with consumers in the capital, creating a chance for their products to be more widely known and sold out in bigger quantity. After the fair finished, customers could buy their favorite products at TYM members’ shop at 20 Thuy Khue Street (Gate B) – Hanoi.
The agricultural product fair is in line with a series of business development support (BDS) activities that TYM has been implemented from 2012 until now. In the coming time, TYM would continue to provide such practical support and programs for women members, contributing to improve their income and living standard.
